"I do not restrict myself to any theme when it comes to my sculpting. My pieces are a reflection of my feelings, my interests, my passions, and so many other things. I use wood because of its versatility and natural rich grain and coloring, and it is this natural versatility and character that I aim to inject into every one of my pieces. I am excited every day about what I do, and now thanks to Life Tropical I can share my excitement and enthusiasm for art with many people from all across the globe."

Made Jana was born in a small village outside Ubud known for its tradition of skilled artisans. However, Made was originally not interested in a career in the arts, and as a young man he studied to become an engineer. Sculpting and art had only been a hobby and pastime up until that point, but in order to pay for his schooling he began sculpting pieces to sell in the marketplace and to galleries. It was during this time that his love and passion for sculpting flourished, and he decided to take an intense apprenticeship in his home village. Since then Made Jana has been featured in several Indonesian Periodicals and has opened up his own gallery. He is regarded by his peers as one of the most exciting up and coming young sculptors in the region. Made is married and has two young children. As well as being a renowned sculptor, Made is also a leading member of his regional "Banjar" - a group of leaders in the community who meet regularly to address issues and challenges concerning the local village.
