Herry PrasetyaBorn: October 16, 1969"The Buddha is not just an image of peace and tranquility in my art, it stands as a symbol of love and affection and offers us a greater understanding and recognition of our shared humanity". Herry moved to Bali as a young man after receiving an apprenticeship with a regionally renowned painter in Denpasar. Originally from Kediri in Eastern Java, Herry hails from a family with long standing traditions in the arts and he finds great pride in continuing this tradition. Much of Herry's work is inspired by religion, spirituality, and the invigorating teachings of the Buddha, a symbol and image that abounds throughout the island of Bali. Herry is married with one child. His son, now 15 years old, is an avid painter and has plans already to follow in the footsteps of his father. |
