Mitra BaliMitra Bali, located in the Balinese village of Ubud, is an organization actively involved in assisting marginalized craft producers understand and develop Fair Trade models, while also providing sales assistance and export facilitation. Mitra's strong belief in Fair Trade is clear in it's organizational structure and general approach to business. For the organization Mitra feels it vital that the Artisans and Mitra's staff retain clear dialogue, equality and a strong sense of mutual respect throughout the production process. Mitra Bali conducts free training workshops, on a regular basis, that include design, product development, educational understanding and quality control. In addition to its social mission Mitra has also developed an environmental program where it's replanting of albesia (blalu) trees provides sustainable woods for crafts the communities create. Mitra Bali is a member of IFAT - the global network of Fair Trade Organizations who's mission is to improve the livelihoods and well being of disadvantaged producers by linking and promoting Fair Trade Organizations, and speaking out for greater justice in world trade. |
