Made Marayasa
Born: May 20, 1970.
"Many of the old customs and skills of the Balinese people are no longer handed down to future generations as new technology becomes more available. I am proud to be continuing with the family tradition of basket weaving and hope to some day train my daughters in the craft."
Made was introduced to basket weaving at a young age with both his parents being skilled in the craft. After finishing school he continued in his parents' footsteps and opened his own business.
Made has continued to develop his skill through the years and now employs 15 people from his village who work together bringing his creative designs to life. He and his wife hope their two children will one day continue on with the family tradition and learn the art of weaving.
